Miriam Bailey‑Parkyns
of the Civil Mediation Council
About Miriam
Whether a dispute is civil, corporate or commercial, the longer each side holds to what it has said, the harder resolution becomes and the longer the conflict runs.
Miriam Bailey-Parkyns is an Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator and a Registered Fellow Member of the Civil Mediation Council. As mediator she acts independently and neutrally, managing the negotiation between the parties, helping them to examine the issues in dispute and the options open to them, and testing whether an agreed resolution can be reached. The decision whether to settle, and on what terms, remains with the parties.
She also practises as a civil, corporate and commercial lawyer in litigious and non-litigious matters. That practice gives her a working understanding of the legal and commercial context in which disputes arise, and of what must be addressed if agreement is to be reached. Additionally, she is commercially aware, having held senior executive positions in several industries.
As mediator, Miriam does not advise either party, does not determine the merits and does not impose an outcome. She does not mediate any matter in which she has advised or acted.
