Professional Outcome
On successful completion
Forty hours of structured training, skills practice and assessed performance.
Participants will have completed forty hours of structured tuition, skills practice and coached role play in the conduct of civil and commercial mediation.
The programme is designed to develop the practical skills required to prepare for and conduct a mediation with professional discipline, including opening the process, managing joint and private sessions, identifying and testing the issues in dispute, facilitating negotiation, managing impasse and bringing the process to an effective conclusion.
Each participant will undertake a formal assessment of their own conduct of a mediation before independent assessors, measured against the programme’s published assessment criteria.
Participants who meet the required standard will be accredited by Legatia Law as Civil and Commercial Mediators and will receive a certificate confirming successful completion of the forty-hour programme and the assessment outcome.
For those intending to practise as mediators, the programme provides a rigorous foundation for professional mediation practice. For lawyers and other professionals, it develops a disciplined and transferable dispute-resolution capability for use in negotiations, commercial relationships and contentious situations.
